Yesterday, Ray Kemish, Kev Last, Kev Milton and Nick Whiles carried the club colours to Trent Valley Sailing Club for the annual battle with the home team and Nottingham SC.
Situated at the junction of the rivers Trent and Soar and the Erewash and Cranfleet canals, the location made for a glorious spectacle, a challenging course and difficult first race for our intrepid foursome.
Light head winds on the start line soon dropped away upstream as the mixed fleet rounded the corner opposite the mouth of the Erewash. Local knowledge favoured the home team who left many visitors grounded, hugging the shore and making little way against, what seemed, an irresistible downstream flow.
A scenario repeated over three races resulted in the home team taking 1st team and individual helm places with Nottingham and Attenborough placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Nevertheless, a great day out in fabulous surroundings.
Well done gents for taking up the challenge! Better luck at the Northern Tripartite at Sutton on 19th May.
