Great turnout on Wednesday with 21 boats on the water sailing an intriguing course and excellent start line set by Race Officer Phil Burnham. The start saw and in form Paul Kelly pushed on to the committee boat by equally in form Paul Jago; resulting 720 meant Paul Kelly had a lot to make up.
Kevin’s Last and Milton led the fleet away but Jon Adams muscled his way through in his revamped Rooster and on the water he and the two Kevin’s had a great battle on the water for line honours with Jon crossing the line first from Milton and Last with only 23 seconds covering them. Further back was Duncan Adams in his retuned N12 and he stayed close to the leading pack. Further back was Mike Pritchard in his Laser with a large pack of Supernovas and Streakers just behind.
So an excellent race in challenging conditions and after the Gary Cawthorn calculations the winner on handicap was Duncan Adams from Kevin Last with Mike Pritchard a further four seconds behind. This meant that after five races the overall positions were very close:
Kevin Last on 7pts with Jon Adams, Paul Kelly and Mike Pritchard on 8 points. See you all next Wednesday when we have currently light winds but a temperature of high 20s.
