Attenborough Sailing Club is located about 4 miles south west of Nottingham, and about 8 miles east of Derby, United Kingdom (see location maps). The club enjoys the use of ‘Coneries Lagoon’ (65 acres) beside the River Trent and Attenborough Nature Reserve, an area highly valued for its wildlife. This makes it perfectly placed if you live in Nottingham, Derby, Ilkeston & Long Eaton area. Our members enjoy a variety of racing, cruising and social activities. We pride ourselves on the friendly atmosphere of our club and new members are always welcome!
The club races take place on Sundays and Wednesday evenings during the spring and summer, and supports a wide number of different classes of dinghy, particularly Laser and Supernova. Another popular class is the Comet. The club has fleet of four RS Visions, four Toppers, two Laser Bug’s and two RS Fevas available to club members subject to certain conditions.
Start lines of 25 – 30 boats are not uncommon.
A range of courses to suit individual needs is offered by the club. The club is affiliated to the RYA and is a RYA recognised teaching establishment. Learning to sail can be accomplished over a couple of weekends, and at reasonable cost. Members geta discounted rate for courses and anyone joining following a course can do so ata reduced rate. Courses have been very popular over the last couple of years, with demand for places outstripping availaibility.
